Compact plant from Chile, South America with a purplish - black epidermis.

Plant obtained from a specialist cactus nursery in 1978 as a small seedling.

Flowers approx. 3cm. long, 2.5cm. diameter are produced in early spring and remain open for a week or more.

Kept slightly moist in winter at a minimum temperature of 45 - 50 degrees F.
